day

Day 02 – SUNDAY
We cycle along the central plateau of the island, which brings to mind the immense arid steppes of Mongolia. Vast plains surrounded by volcanoes that have been extinct for millions of years, which are covered in green in winter and bare in summer, revealing corridors of sand that the trade winds carry from the north to the south coast. The locals call it the Soo Desert, in honor of the people who live there. Lunch break in Teguise, the ancient capital, a gem of Canarian architecture hidden in the interior of the island to avoid attacks by Saracen pirates along the coast. On the way back to the hotel, we can visit the Monument to the Farmer (free admission), one of the works of Cesar Manrique, the famous artist from Lanzarote who managed to convince the island’s inhabitants to preserve as much as possible the purity and beauty of the architectural landscapes, turning them into an open-air architectural museum.

Giorno 02 – DOMENICA

Day 03 – MONDAY
We cycle to discover Lanzarote’s most recently formed volcanoes in Timanfaya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose symbol is “El Diablo” (The Devil), designed by Cesar Manrique. The vast eruptions that began in 1730 and lasted for six years covered a large part of the island with lava flows and increased its surface area by about 10%. Lunch break at the park’s visitor center and return ride on our MTBs over a black sea of lapilli to the hotel for a well-deserved drink by the pool.

Giorno 03 – LUNEDI

day

Day 04 – TUESDAY
After a 45-minute bus ride, we will arrive at Mirador del Rio, an old military bunker converted by Cesar Manrique into an impressive viewpoint on the island of La Graciosa. From here, we will begin the cycle route, which descends along a road overlooking the cliffs of Risco de Famara, which in some places can reach up to 600 meters above sea level. Here you will find the greenest landscapes of Lanzarote, favored by the presence of the humidity-laden trade winds. On the way back, we will pass through the tourist resort of Costa Teguise, where we can stop for lunch on the beach and take a dip in the crystal-clear sea. From there, we will continue along a cycle path that leads to Arrecife, the current capital of the island, and nearby Playa Honda, with its beautiful, lively seafront promenade. The cycle path continues to Puerto del Carmen, where we can enjoy a well-deserved rest by the pool.

Giorno 04 – MARTEDI

Day 07 – FRIDAY
Fuerteventura is the island before our eyes, calling us for one last ride that will reward us with desolate landscapes sprinkled with Sahara sand. It is the oldest island in the Canaries and has undergone the most profound erosion, creating a science fiction-like landscape similar to the planet’s origins. Wild coasts with powerful, roaring waves loved and ridden by surfers, surrounded by volcanoes that have been dormant for millions of years. The tourist town of Corralejo, with its atmosphere and beaches, will be an oasis in the desert. Here we will begin and end today’s route, returning by ferry to Lanzarote in the afternoon. During this stage, we will visit the surfing spot of El Cotillo and return to the port of Corralejo, cycling along hilly dirt tracks between ancient volcanoes.

Giorno 07 – VENERDI
