Day 01
We meet in the early morning in Limena (Padua) for a welcome briefing with our tour leader. Once our bags are loaded onto the bikes, we are ready to set off. In front of us lies the Brenta Cycle Path, which on a comfortable dirt surface leads us a few kilometers ahead to the Treviso–Ostiglia Cycle Path, where we turn toward Vicenza.

After just one kilometer, we make our first stop to introduce today’s theme: Palladio and the search for his most famous works. The first we encounter is the stunning Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, an imposing building dominating the town square. After the inevitable photos, we continue until we meet another important gravel road: the Bacchiglione Cycle Path. Following it, still on dirt, we approach Vicenza, where just before entering the city we reach Palladio’s most famous masterpiece: Villa Capra, also known as La Rotonda.

Our tour continues up to Monte Berico, offering a beautiful panoramic view over Vicenza. We then head into the city for a walking tour of the historic center, where we admire more of Palladio’s iconic works—above all, the Palladian Basilica. Here we take advantage of the stop for a light lunch before riding on toward Bassano del Grappa, our final destination of the day.

After a few more kilometers, we arrive in Marostica, a charming walled town famous for its live chess game. A well-deserved stop allows us to admire its unique chessboard square before covering the last stretch to Bassano. We reach the town in the late afternoon, welcomed by the iconic Ponte degli Alpini—the historic gateway to the city. Here we can toast our arrival with the traditional local aperitivo Mezzo & Mezzo, before discovering the charm of this elegant town.

PRIMO GIORNO

Day 02
Fueled by a hearty breakfast, we finish packing our bags and get ready for the second day of our adventure. We leave Bassano del Grappa along secondary roads and gravel paths of the Venetian foothills, riding gentle ups and downs until we reach the elegant village of Asolo—“the city of a hundred horizons”—where we pause for a well-deserved stop.

We then continue along the Sentiero degli Ezzelini, named after the lords who once ruled these lands, a cycle route that leads us to Castelfranco Veneto. This beautiful walled town, birthplace of the painter Giorgione and last Treviso stronghold before entering the province of Padua, is the perfect place to stop for lunch.

About thirty kilometers separate us from Padua, which we reach on a scenic gravel cycle path. Once in the city, we enjoy a tour of its famous squares, surrounded by historic monuments but also renowned for the beloved Spritz—born here and still the city’s most popular aperitivo. Of course, we won’t miss the chance to try one before returning to our meeting point, where we left our cars, for fond farewells. Until next time!

PRIMO GIORNO
